Science Podcast for Kids

I am a huge fan of podcasts. I listen to them when I am driving, working out, showering, cooking… you get the picture. Today while the kids and I were driving around completing errands, my kids were asking for me to put on “kid music”. Instead I decided to try something different; a podcast for kids.

My kids are big fans of “The Who Was Show”, “Brain Child” and “Storybots” so we decided to try out a science podcast called, “Brains On”. My kids are always asking me questions about science, how things are made, how things work, etc. so this podcast seemed like it would be perfect for them. We listened to the episode on your bones and my kids LOVED IT! It was entertaining and the kids learned a bunch of facts about bones. The hosts are a mix of adults, kids, and guests who have expertise on the topic. The fun sound effects, funny characters and mystery sound kept the kids involved for 35 minutes. I like that at the end of the show they reviewed all of the facts that had been sprinkled throughout the show to reinforce the information the kids had learned. By the end of the show my 8 year old and 9 year old were begging for another.

I was so excited for our find that I wanted to share it with other parents who have inquisitive kids. Check out the “Brains On” podcast on Spotify and Apple Podcasts or check out their webpage: www.brainson.org

Another fun science/history podcast for kids is from the makers of “Brainchild” mentioned above. You can listen to the podcast called, “Who Smarted” and sign up to receive an email with activities that go along with it!
